COVID-19 Alert Level 2 Update: Eden Dental Open For All Treatment

Posted by:

With the government announcement that New Zealand will be moving to Alert level 2, Eden Dental Centre are delighted to advise we are reopening our doors from Thursday 14th May 2020. We are able to return to providing ALL types of dental care. However, the key principal is “play it safe”. With this in mind, we have increased safety measures to protect you and our team.

Confirming your appointment & telephone screening

When we contact you to confirm or arrange an appointment, you will be asked a series of questions relating to COVID-19. We appreciate your patience during this time but we want to let you know that we are thinking carefully about your safety.

If you have had a cough or cold or been in contact with anyone who has a  cold or flu we may need to reschedule your visit to a later date. If you are over 70 or have underlying health conditions such as diabetes, asthma, emphysema we would like to assure you we have systems in place to ensure we further reduce your risk when you attend the clinic.

If you are a new patient to the clinic you will need to fill in our Medical History questionnaire and email this to us BEFORE you present to our office so we can review your details prior to your arrival.

If you usually like to call in to schedule treatment or just for a chat, we ask you NOT to do this while we are at Alert level 2. Please call 09 373 5141 or email us at edendentalcentre@gmail.com.

On arrival at the practice

When you arrive at the practice, you will be asked to use hand sanitiser provided. Our aim is to minimise your time in the waiting area. We have adjusted the waiting area so there is 2m spacing between the waiting room chairs. We also ask that you use hand sanitiser provided prior to your departure.

Social distancing

We are doing our best to remain contactless outside of the treatment room. We will be limiting the number of patients in our waiting area to two at any one time.

We ask that you do not arrive at the practice too early in order to reduce the time you have to wait in the waiting room.  Please stay in your car and plan to present to the practice 5 mins prior to your scheduled time. If we are running a bit late we may ask you to remain in the car for a little longer. If you require a support person to accompany you this is fine however, we ask you not to bring any other family members such as children to the clinic while we are at Alert level 2.

Personal protective equipment.

We would like to reassure you that all our staff are fully trained and equipped with the necessary PPE. We want to assure your safety is our main concern. At Alert level 2 in addition to our usual masks and gloves all clinical staff will be wearing face visors or shields. We will ask you to rinse with a special mouthrinse for 30 seconds prior to commencing any dental treatment. We have additional PPE in the form of surgical gowns, caps and N95 masks should this be called for.

We would also like to reassure you that all staff working at the practice are free of illness. If any staff become unwell they will be self-isolating and not be actively working at the practice until they have fully recovered.

Contact Tracing

Every patient who has an appointment will be tracked within our appointment scheduling software. You will NOT need to fill out any contact tracing forms on arrival.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic how we manage any aerosol and surface contamination is to use a full antiseptic wipe-down of all contact surfaces with both alcohol-based antiseptics followed by a hospital grade disinfectant. All high contact surfaces outside of the surgery in the waiting room, reception, stairwell area and all door handles will be disinfected between patients.

We hope this helps to reassure you of the measures taken to protect you, our patient, and in doing so help prevent any further spread of COVID-19.

If you have any further questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call us on 09 3735141 or email us at edendentalcentre@gmail.com.
